Little Boy Baby Blue

Recently, I got to do a layout for a friend of a beautiful baby boy in blue.  Really gorgeous little boy too.  Anyhoo, I had lots of fun with this layout, using 3 different stencils, Kaisercraft ephemera and a lovely piece of ScrapFX chipboard.

The background paper is from the Kaisercraft Frosted range that has Christmas elements on it, so I just covered those up creatively with ripped paper panels top and bottom.  I had a bit of fun with stencilling on this one, using 3 different stencils all with silver embossing paste.  The butterfly stencil is also from Kaiser, but I must confess that I am a little in love with it.  The ephemera is also from Kaisercraft, but the swirly chippy piece is from Scrap FX, which I embossed using a few different powders.  The lattice panel, I cut out on the Silhouette and painted with some silver watercolour paint.  This is a really pretty layout and once it goes in a white frame, it will look beautifully finished.  Here are some closeups.  Please visit m…

Fabscraps C100 Album

After working on the Fabscraps C100 balloon I created, I was in need for something a bit more freewheeling, the balloon had a wonderful theme to it, but I just needed to let loose a little and so I turned to the album, where the cover is shaped like a cog and the rest of the pages are circular.
I had much fun once again with this one, lots of embossing throughout, especially, as you can see, on the front cover!  This paper collection comes with tags and stickers, 2 different stencils, 12" and 6" papers, the butterfly is cut separate and the album also comes with the metal rings to bind it all together.  My only mistake was getting completely carried away and decorated the very back cover.  Clearly, I was enjoying myself, wayyyyy too much.  Wait, is that even possible when it comes to creativity.  I am sure not.
Lots of cogs were used throughout as the paper is themed steampunk with lots of groovy images that are just crying out to be fussy cut.  Most of my fussy cutting wen…

Halloween Colours - A Nice Mix

I am very much so a freewheeling designer, I do not plan or pick out things I wish to use beforehand, it all just happens very organically and evolves.  I did know that I wished to use purple and orange with a touch of green as my colour mix and I had just bought this piece of Imaginarium designs chipboard frame.  I love layers and never do flat designs and lots of texture.  I went on a spending spree and got some new leaf dies as well, so I got to use them throughout as well.
These colours are traditionally used for Halloween, but that is not what this design is for particularly, though the end owner may like to use it for that, I just like the colours mixed together.  There are many flowers throughout from a variety of sources, a few ribbons here and there and then loads more.  I very much enjoyed creating this layout.  I realise alot of people create a layout within a day, but that is not really my style, I take about 3 days to fully complete it.  I like to look at it, think, rest…

Fabscraps Fabscrappin'

I have been so busy off in creative world, oh and baby chickens!  8 of them almost all at the same time and to top it off, it is raining and cold and windy and so they want outside and that just cannot happen for long periods, so I am up and down and in and out.  In between that, I have been cooking alot, as clearly my 17yo is going through a growth spurt - she is perpetually hungry!

Anyway, I got to do some work for Fabscraps as part of the guest design team competing against the main design team.  The paper range is C100 which has lots of 1800s images and cogs and alot would think steampunk, but that is not what I saw, I was inspired by the various images and they made me think of the Era of Invention of the 1800s and so I designed an 8 panelled hot air balloon, complete with basket.   Think Discovery, Invention, Engineering, Industry, Mechanical, Fashion, Theatre and Music, Magic and Illusion.  This is what I saw in this collection and that is how the 8 panels are designed.
