Flower Power with Hero Arts and A2Z scrapbooking

Flower Power is the theme of the month over at A2Z scrapbooking this month.  Literally, say no more!  I do believe we have already established that I loooove flowers.  Not in my garden though, just in my art!  I prefer non-flowering plants in my garden - strange, I know!!

So, using the Hero Arts Digital Download called Pretty Blossoms I coloured the flowers in photoshop and then printed them out on gloss photo paper and fussy cut them out.  I started with some white card and clear gessoed it so that it was prepared for future textures and sprays.  Using a Kaisercraft flower stencil I used white embossing paste and applied that to the background and them mixed some white embossing paste with some "Polka Purple" from Lindy's Magicals and applied that through a Prima stencil.  My favourite Lindy's Magical is "Oom Pah Pah Pink" and so I lightly sprinkled some of that over the embossed background and hit it with the water spray and it certainly worked its magic.…

Don't Wake Up to be Ordinary

I have a few statements that I like to use and live by and "Don't Wake Up to be Ordinary" is my new favourite.  Another favourite is "a year from now you will wish you started a year ago", that one had a great impact on my recent life change.  The one that I live by everyday is "do unto others as you would have done unto you", sooo important.

Anyway, creative time for Altair Art - this time I wanted to do something off the page and this new favourite statement seemed like a good match with a garlic cutting board thing I had found and put in the "future off the page" cupboard.  I started by covering it with white gesso and then got out some Ranger Perfect Pearls and painted it blue and then I had a little play with my new Distress Oxides and got some groovy effects going on, but nothing that you will be able to see.  I then smeared some texture paste over the top and using Altair Art papers I laid a yellow and white check to the inner backgro…

Latest AltairArt creation - Unique Beauty

I have been playing once again with my AltairArt collection utilising two different collections - Sunrise and EverDream collections.  Sunrise 5 is a beautiful paper, I really love the colouring throughout this paper and it made the perfect background.  Strangely, I was in a dark mood when I sat down to be creative and so I wanted to grunge the design up a bit.  So I did and I initially spread some white modelling paste in my creative areas and then I used graphite texture paste through a graffiti type Dusty Attic stencil.  After that, out came the sprays and I splattered and dribbled them around the page.

Once this was dry, I started building up my photo matte and then on goes the process of lace, ribbon, ephemera and plenty of flowers, finished off with some bling.  Close ups below.  Hope you like it.  To see more of my work, please go to

AltairArt Design Team member and my works so far

Okay, so yes, I am back!  Been away for a few months as I changed my life from being a city chick and becoming a farm chick!!  It has been an amazing ride.  I now live on an 8000 acre cattle property after coming for an interview for a nanny and falling in love with the absolute love of my life.  So, I guess I became a stepmum almost overnight and living on a farm with cattle, driving utes and four wheel drives on many a dirt road and having to drive at least an hour to get groceries.  I love it all, my life is how it was always meant to be and I am more happy than I can possibly describe.
Finding time to be creative has been most difficult, first of all I had no space, but found a table outside, but then the weather caused all sorts of issues even though it was undercover.  Some more accommodation was added to the house which freed up another large room and then that has become the classroom and my craft room.  So, I finally have some space and in that time I found out that I had …

Showing the versatility of a Hero Arts Digital Download

As a design team member for A2Z scrapbooking, I have been using digital downloads each month and this month I chose to use the Poetic Petals digital download from Hero Arts.  This pack has four really beautifully sketched flowers, plus some papers and some embellishments.  I got to post three times this month and I used the same digital download each time to show the versatility of digital downloads.

The first layout I did hybrid style, printing out the flowers at different sizes and colouring them in.  I once again used my Chameleon pens and also some pencils.  I cut these out and then arranged them around the photo area so it was if the photo is being surrounded by a bouquet of flowers.  At this stage the layout was a tad flat and I don't really do flat layouts, I like layers and depth, it is just more interesting.  Plus height gives you a bit more room to play with by tucking things underneath.

Next up I went completely digital and used the flowers in my background panels and t…

Challenging myself with Collage style

Hey there,

I have been having much fun of late trying out a new style which I actually find quite challenging, but loads of fun.  When I look at the work of European designers, alot of them have this awesome style of lots of layering, texture, sparkles, ephemera, chipboard and more and more and more.  I love it, but I find it difficult as I do not like to be wasteful, I mean, scrapbooking products cost alot of money and we are not all endowed with free product to use.  I know I am not.  So, I have my Silhouette machines, which I like to put to good use.  I recently got a "cut anything" blade for my machines, so I am looking forward to trying that out too and creating all sorts of elements.

These are a few layouts that I have created recently using this style.  I am still quite reserved with my use of embellishments in comparison, but it is hugely generous for me currently.  I really do love the final results, they are quite gorgeous and I know my sister has immediately claim…

Colouring fun with Hero Arts Digi Download

Presenting my latest layout as a design team member for a2z scrapbooking using digital stamps from Hero Arts.  This is my 2nd foray into the use of digital stamps on a hybrid layout and I must say, I do love them using a bit.  While using them in this way requires extra work, colouring and cutting out, I like it as it just makes another dimension of work to add to the layout.
So, the challenge at a2z scrapbooking this month is Bright and Beautiful, gorgeous theme when you think about it, so many options.  I turned to Hero Arts Instant Download Poetic Petals Digital Stamps PT004 as the flowers are the perfect theme.  I had lots of painful hand fun colouring them in using my chameleon markers and pencils.
I started with a blank canvas and did some stencilling with embossing paste, which I really can hardly be seen now, but I did have a different layout in mind initially.  I intended to use an array of Lindy's Magical Shakers anyway to create a colourful background, so having some…
